Freelance Frontend Developer

We are looking for a skilled and passionate freelance Frontend Developer to build and shape the user interfaces for a diverse range of digital products and client websites. This role is focused on creating high-quality, scalable, and visually polished web applications using our modern frontend stack. You will be a key member of our development team, turning design concepts into reality and ensuring a seamless user experience across multiple projects.

• Knowledge of Design Systems: Experience with or a solid understanding of design systems is a significant plus. Familiarity with tools like Figma and Tokens Studio is highly valued.

What you’ll do

• Develop, test, and maintain high-quality user interfaces using React and Next.js.

• Work closely with designers to translate Figma mockups and prototypes into pixel-perfect, responsive web pages.

• Build and maintain our component library using Storybook and Vanilla Extract, ensuring components are reusable, accessible, and well-documented.

• Leverage our design tokens pipeline (Tokens Studio) to ensure visual consistency across all products.

• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and accessibility.

• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure a smooth end-to-end experience.

Key technical strengths we’re looking for

• Core Frameworks: Strong proficiency in React and Next.js.

• Headless CMS: Experience building sites powered by headless CMS platforms like Sanity (our default), Contentful, DatoCMS, or Strapi.

• Styling & Components: Solid experience with CSS-in-JS solutions like Vanilla Extract and building component libraries with Storybook.

• Build Tools: Familiarity with modern build tools like Vite.

• Design Integration: Proven experience working with Figma and design token tools like Tokens Studio.

• General Frontend: Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6+), and web performance best practices.

This role starts mid-August; ideally on Monday, August 18th and runs through the end of the year. It’s a 40-hour per week position and we ask that you're available to work on-site at our Amsterdam office at least one day per week. You’ll be joining a collaborative team working with a seriously cool tech stack in a vibrant and creative environment.
