Business Director

We are expanding our client services team and looking for a Business Director, you’re the key strategic and operational partner to our top-tier clients. You’ll lead large-scale digital programs from within the client organization, partnering with our internal teams to bring world-class platforms, applications, and digital ecosystems to life. Your combination of strategic oversight, commercial thinking, and passion for creative digital innovation ensures what matters most: delivering real business impact. 

Our embedded Directors integrate seamlessly into clients' organizations, ensuring execution remains fast, efficient, and ahead of market demands. As part of our code embedded proposition, you’ll work on-site or in close collaboration with client teams, offering strategic partnership and digital leadership exactly where it matters most. 

What you’ll do 

• Serve as the primary client partner, owning relationships, understanding business goals, and translating needs into scalable digital programs. 

• Co-lead complex digital builds (e.g. platforms, products, apps) in close collaboration with (Lead) Project Managers and functional leads. 

• Manage large-scale programs and retainers, with full budget ownership and accountability for targets. 

• Identify and grow opportunities within accounts, shaping proposals and pitching new initiatives. 

• Align internal and external stakeholders across scope, priorities, timelines, and deliverables. 

• Facilitate strategic discussions at C-level, and lead cross-functional teams (strategy, creative, CX, UX, design & tech). 

• Ensure the financial health of accounts through accurate forecasting, reporting, and administrative oversight. 

• Monitor and elevate the quality and consistency of deliverables in partnership with the Project Director. 

• Drive innovation by encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI. 

What we need 

• 8–10 years of experience in senior client services, strategic account, or business leadership roles within a creative or digital agency. 

• Proven success managing high-budget digital productions (≥ €1M). 

• A deep understanding of digital product development, from CX and UX/UI to frontend/backend implementation. 

• Skilled in leading cross-functional teams, balancing creative, strategic, technical, and commercial objectives. 

• Familiarity with PM methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall and how they impact delivery strategy. 

• Strong commercial and contractual skills: confident with MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, rate cards, scopes, and T&M models. 

• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of driving growth and leading new business efforts. 

• Excellent communicator, collaborator, and negotiator fluent in both Dutch and English. 

• Passionate about digital innovation and emerging tech, including AI. 

• Available full-time and flexible to work on-site at code d’azur and client offices in the Amsterdam region as part of our embedded model.
